Deep Throat Revealed; Double-Standard Confirmed!

So, 91-year-old Mark Felt decided he wanted to bask in the adulation of the liberal media rather than wait until death to allow grandstanding hacks Woodward and Bernstein to reveal his identity as Deep Throat. Fine. Whatever. The media is reveling in their greatest partisan takedown - the driving from office of Richard Nixon - and ready to demand that this guy be added to Mount Rushmore, but I've got a simple question to test their ideological honesty:

Q: What if the #2 of the Clinton era FBI went to one of Rupert Murdoch's papers and leaked criminal investigation info on the Big He and it drove him from office in a way that all his other crimes didn't - would that FBI man be a liberal "hero" now?

Hmmm? Didn't think so.

Look for this wrinkle to be ignored during the parade coverage as will the weird detail that Reagan actually PARDONED Felt in 1981, granting clemency for authorizing FBI agents to break into Vietnam protestors' offices without warrants! Yep, that was the Looking Glass we just sailed through!

John "I'm a bald and stupid cultural idiot" Podhoretz opined on the Corner:

A hero? Perhaps. Also possible: He was an FBI man with an axe to grind against Nixon because he didn't get the top job at his agency after J. Edgar Hoover's death. He used the Washington Post not because he wanted to reveal the "truth" but in a classic petty score-settling vendetta -- in which he represented not the forces of progress and change, but the forces of Hooverism. Only in Felt's case, he didn't merely threaten to destroy elected politicians using classified FBI information -- he actually went ahead and did it.

I doubt the MSM will flag this hypocrisy either.
