Guns, Germs & Steel

Caught a show on PBS last night that showed that if the CPB could just purge the jerks like Bill Moyers from the schedules, most people wouldn't mind government sponsorship of a television network.

Guns Germs & Steel is a historical investigation into why the Evil White Man ended up with so much stuff. It thankfully avoided descending into agitprop and stuck to pretty straight-forward science explaining how fortunate circumstances in available food crops, animals and geography dealt superior hands to some of the world's people. You can't play with crappy cards, you'll learn, no matter how smart you are.

Looking at the synopsis for the 3rd show, it looks like it may veer into condemnation of African colonialism and fixates on malaria in children, but I wonder if they'll blame it on the despots of today and the banning of DDT which could control the killer mosquitos. If only the liberal environmental fascists would stop their racist policies that kill the poor brown people they pretend to care so much about.

Anyhoo, check your local listings.
